Great story - I kept seeing in my mind an episode of the old B & W TV show which I wasn't allowed to watch as a kid, lest it give me any ideas, called the Three Stooges - believe the episode was called the Painters and just as you two did, starts with a few careless slaps of paint and turns into an all out paint war.
I'll have to tell you though that the naked swim brought back unpleasant memories. The year is 1973 and I had 'graduated' from Jr. HS (middle school to some) and since my birthday is in the fall they let you initially start school at early age - so off I was going as a 13 Yr. old to High School. First up freshman year in PE we had swimming. Back then all PE classes were segregated by gender and in the states (at least where I was) they didn't allow the Boys to wear any suits, except your B-day suit. No fair, the girls were issued full body suits. That did change the very next year, but not soon enough for me. As a very (body) shy 13 about to turn 14 yr. old standing on the side of the pool for attendance was bad enough, but then being told to jump in and concentrate on proving you can swim was disturbing. Maybe it was just age, but I also had a very conservative religious upbringing and would have done like Adam/Eve and covered with Fig leaves if they'd have let us.
Upper class HS PE were offered to take 'life saving' lessons if they were strong enough swimmers and I really wasn't interested - didn't realize what I missed out on till near the end of our weeks in the pool those boys were 'required' to bring full clothing to tread water in the pool for the entire class - to mimic potential life saving emergency where they went in as was. I at least got to watch - especially as they got out and hit the showers.
