That must have ben a memorable occasion. I've never had the courage to wear white clothes (except for a shirt) when getting soaked as I was always worried about exposure. When I was fourteen my mum came home from the shops one day with some new holiday clothes for me (we were going camping to Southern France) and among the things she bought were a pair of white swim-shorts with a pale blue seashell print around the waistband and the hem of the legs; the trouble was the pattern was only a couple of inches deep so left the rest of the shorts plain white. I tried them in the shower before we went and was horrified to be able to see everything (I realise now that as a 14 year old there really was not that much to see!) through the fabric and the mesh liner. I never did tell my mum why I never wore them on the beach or in the sea on that holiday and just preferred to stick to my black Speedos which were mandatory in the camp site pool.
